Frost flowers are a beautiful thing to behold, yet they tend not to last for very long, and exist only in very cold temperatures. As cold, damp, still air settles, the water molecules crystallize in geometric patterns. I returned the next day to see them again, but they didn't survive the warmth of the sun's rays on this morning. The winters in Banff can be brutally cold; surely these flowers will be back.
