Frozen Sunrise over Mount Rundle

Throughout the year, mineral hot springs are thrust up through natural faults in the rock near the shores of Vermilion Lakes. This mineral rich water feeds the lakes, creating patches of warmth that flow slowly through the rich mud into the lakes. This particular pattern was fleeting, and existed for only a few frigid mornings before melting away. In this sunrise photo, Mount Rundle stands proudly beyond the Town of Banff, with Tunnel Mountain to the left.
