There are no shortage of breathless moments in Banff. These are sometimes a result of the natural beauty to be found here, and other times from the physical challenge of the trails. Here is a moment where both are present. In this photo, the Milky Way rises above the Valley of Ten Peaks, with Pinnacle Peak to the right. For this photo, I ascended for hours in the dead of night until I found myself below the "step" on Mount Temple. Conditions were great, but even as such, it is rarely warm in these places. There are a few rules I always follow on these types of shoots; bring more layers than you think you need, and don't sweat, as any moisture will quickly and unrelentingly drain heat. Easier said than done.
